Broadleaf weeds, sedges, or grassy weeds are the first thing I notice. The lawn looks pale, thin, or uneven in color even where there are almost no weeds. Yellow or brown patches spread quickly, and damage sometimes looks sucked or chewed. Odd rings, spots, or slimy patches show up after humid nights or heavy dew.

2. What second clue sounds most like your yard?

One zone is always dry and crunchy while another stays soggy or grows mossy. Ants, roaches, or other pests show up along the foundation, patio, or pool cage. Palms or hedges look weak, yellow, or buggy even when open turf looks okay. The issue is mostly about the grass itself; beds and hardscape seem fine.

3. What are you trying to avoid six weeks from now?
